Which technology level is best for me?

Behind the ear (BTE)

BTE hearing aids have the largest fitting range and are typically fitted for severe to profound hearing loss. An acrylic or silicone ear mould directs the amplified sound into the entrance of the ear. The aid can be set to be fully automatic or have a manual volume control. The aid is programmable and can be recalibrated time and time again, should your hearing loss advance. Regular check-ups are necessary to monitor your hearing loss.

Receiver in the canal (RIC)

RIC hearing aids are small, discrete and fully automatic. The aid is significantly smaller than a conventional BTE. The aid can be fitted without the need to take an impression of the ear canal. The sound delivery in the ear is facilitated by a soft and comfortable silicone dome. Very little maintenance is required and the light weight design ensures that the aid is comfortable if worn consistently throughout the day.

In the ear hearing aids (ITE)

ITE hearing aids are moulded to the shape of the ear canal and the circuitry is built into the shape of the ear. With this custom sound delivery, there is nothing worn behind the ear. An impression is taken of the ear and fittings typically take place 2 weeks after the impression is taken. The aids can be set to be fully automatic or can have a manual volume control and program button.
